Has anyone tried removing the "intergrated" WICs from a CISCO1711-VPN/K9 (or a CISCO1712-VPN/K9)?

Hi
Are u mentioning about the 10Base T Ethernet port installed in the router ??
Basically thts the port being used for ADSL/Cable broadband connections...If thts the case i dont think so..

It has a WIC-4ESW and a WIC-1AM intergrated (they don't have thumbscrews).
We don't use the WIC-1AM and are looking into replacing it.
I was wondering if there was anything "changed" in the hardware or IOS that would prevent this.

It is physically possible to remove them but the IOS (C1700-K9O3SY7-M) doesn't pick up any other WICs installed.
I installed c1700-entservicesk9-mz.123-17 but get this error on boot:
Support for platform you are using is not available in this
IOS image (or) The mainboard cookie is corrupt
