we are in a University network where in a department 8 2950G-EI-24 switches have been stacked with GBIC 3500 XL modules without any loopback.this department connects to a core switch 4510.Very frequently LED of one of the switch's GBIC stack slot goes off. On reloading that particular switch ,it starts working fine but the problem recurs.

I m stuck .Somebody PLZ help me out

Hello Yash,

which IOS version are you running ? Do the logs on the 2950 and/or 4510 show anything ?

What do your logs say when this happens? Have you tried replacing the GBIC? I had a problem once when ever they did a power test at the location, one of the uplink ports in a 35OOXL would err-disabled. I called Cisco and they gave me a workaround. I am sorry, I do not recall the workaround configuration.
