how to enable ip accounting in 3750 switch?

5 Replies 5

Hello,

AFAIK, ip accounting is not supported on the 3750. Usually, you would just configure it as following:

interface FastEthernet0/1

ip accounting

how to enable ip accounting in Catalyst 3750 Switch Software 12.2(20)SE ?

if it is not supported then is there any other way to see which IP's are hitting the switch?...

actually our network has become very slow and i would like to see which IP's are generating traffic in switch

Hi

do u have any router in place in ur network in most cases which gets u connected to the outside world ?

you can enable netflow on the router and find out the traffic pattern in ur network.

you can enable the same using ip route-cache flow under the ethernet which is getting connected to the local lan and find out the stats using show ip cache flow command.

or else u can make use of SPAN using which u can monitor/find out the patterns thru the physical ports or even in VLANs .

but do remember that u need to use up an external packet analyser to monitor out the same..

do refer this link for more info on the same..

Hi,

in case there is no router available you could first of all look at your switch port counters. They should give you a hint where the traffic is coming from.

In case you do not see high utilizations in the ports then your problem just might reside elsewhere.

Hope this helps
