We monitor servers via HP insight manager. Periodically it alerts that 7 servers connected to the same 4006 are unavailable. The servers & switch appear fine. I know this post is light on detail but any ideas on what to look at would be helpful. We have attempted to correlate the alerts to heavy network usage. No common thread so far.

My first impression is that a load issue is not likely. Are those servers perhaps connected through teamed adapters or FEC's?
If so, start investigating these connections.
Disconnect one adapter and test if it makes any difference.

anything out of the ordinary in the logs ? Do a "show logging buffer 1000" command and look for anything unusual . Also what code version are you using ? Earlier code versions had problems where devices would disappear or not be able to talk to other devices even in the same vlan .

Nothing unusual in the logs. We are running
catos 8.4(5) GLX

If you are running 8.4(5)GLX, look at the following bug
