E1 with MGCP setup in UK London

Unanswered Question

Just installed 3845 with E1 voice circuit (VWIC-1MTF-E1) in UK London. Using a single cluster centralized design. We have got a problem to register E1 with MGCP to CCM which is in Tokyo.

We were told the E1 voice circuit detail as below.

Framing is NO-CRC4, Line Code is AMI, Clock Source is Line, ISDN switch-type is primary-net5

When we setup this gateway in CCM, we can't find the exact Global ISDN switch type. So we use EURO. Also what is the Switching Timing and PRI Protocol Type?

If someone has been successfully configured E1 with MGCP in London UK, appreciate can show us a list of parameters for this type of gateway setup (3845 with VWIC-1MTF-E1 running MGCP) in CCM.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

UK uses Protocol Type EURO from the CCMAdmin pages.

I'm not sure what you mean by Switching Timing?

Also BT tend to use CRC4 framing w/HDB3.

What problem do you have at the moment? Is your E1 interface showing up?

Is the problem with the E1 or the gateway registration?

Thanks. Aaron.

We would like to gather all the E1 parameters in order to add it as a MGCP gateway in CCMAdmin.

MGCP config in CCM

GW Type : cisco3845

Global ISDN Switch Type : EURO

Switchback Timing : Selection of Immediate/Delayed/Graceful/Scheduled (The parameter shown in Product Specific Configuration when we added gateway as a MGCP type in CCMAdmin. In Japan, we all use "Graceful" for voice PRI circuit)

Interface info.

PRI protocal type : Selection of PRI 4ES/PRI 5E8/PRI 5E8 TELEOS/PRI 5E8 INTECOME/PRI 5E9/PRI DMS-100/PRI DMS-250/PRI NI2/PRI 5E8 CUSTOM/PRI ETSISC/PRI NTT/PRI QSIG T1 (will try PRI ETSISC)

PCM type : a-law

Line coding : NO-CRC4

Framing : AMI

Clock : Selection of Internal/Free-Running/External/External Primary (We were told the Clock is Line, thus will try External)

Thanks again.

Arron,

London is using COLT for E1 voice circut and have checked the Global ISDN Switch Type is primary-net5 in 3845 but can't find the exact match in CCMAdmin. Will try EURO.

Switching Timing is the parameter located below "Global ISDN Switch Type" in CCMAdin. Currently we are using Graceful in all japan T1 connections. Just want to know what exactly is using in UK? Thanks.

Hi Tom

EURO is correct.

Clock source should be 'external'.

'Switchback Timing' just refers to how the gateway behaves when it has failed over to a non-primary callmanager.

If it's on a backup callmanager, and the primary comes back up, it will switchback either Graceful (when all calls have ended) or immediate (right away).

It doesn't matter which you pick, it's your preference, and it doesn't affect whether the gateway actually works...

Do the following on your gateway:

show controller e1 0/1 (or whatever your card/slot number is)

And post the output..
