VLAN interfaces on PIX 535 6.3(4)

I have a number of vlan interfaces up and running in a production environment on our PIX 535 failover firewall pair. I had set up an IP address and failover IP on the physical interface, which is totally unused. Since I mistakenly used

loopback range addresses for this, failover keeps complaining that the remote fw is unreachable on this interface, generating log entries. I'd like to just remove the IP address and failover IP for the physical interface and leave the vlan interfaces information as is. My questions are:

1>Is this configuration supported?

2>If so, will the removal cause any outages for the vlan interfaces?

thanks in advance,

Peter
