Hi,
I'm experiencing some small problems with a pix 506 v6.3(4) and a 2924c-xl switch.
On the switch port to the pix, many input errors and runts appear.
On the pix, there is a VLAN configured and the trunk port is configured as
mentioned in the Pix Release Notes.
I could not find a misconfiguration here, but perhaps someone has an idea how to
solve this issue.
Thanks
just some lines:
[pix]
interface ethernet1 auto
interface ethernet1 vlan2 physical
interface ethernet1 vlan999 logical
[switch]
interface FastEthernet0/1
description to PIX506
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk
spanning-tree portfast
no cdp enable
interface VLAN2
ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.0
no ip directed-broadcast
no ip route-cache

Hi
do find some useful info about Runts on 802.1Q port.
Runts on a 802.1Q trunk port.
A Catalyst 2900XL or 3500XL that receives a 64 or 66 byte 802.1Q encapsulated frame on a trunk port counts the frame as a runt. However, it continues to forward the frame.
This issue is commonly seen when you connect Cisco 7960 IP phones to the switch when using auxiliary (voice) VLANs.
This issue is cosmetic, and is due to an ASIC limitation.
It should not cause any degradation in the performance of the switch.

About input errors ..
Input Errors
Input errors provide a count of any errors that occurred while trying to receive packets from this port. The counter includes both CRC and frame errors. However, it does not include ignored packets. This is a list of input errors:
CRC Errors: Occur when the received packets fail the CRC check.
Frame Errors: Occur when the receiving frame is not complete.
Ignored Counter: Counts the number of frames dropped on input due to resource exhaustion in the switch fabric.
Overruns Counter: Occurs when Inter-Frame Gaps (IFG) are too short. In this case, a new Ethernet frame arrives before the previous one is completely stored in shared memory.

WOW,
indeed on the switch is a slightly older version running 120.5.2-XU. There are no IP phones behind that, and as far as I know there are no performance issues.
I did check the bug tool but obviously with the wron keywords.
You made my day.
Thanks a lot.
