rsvp and ldp

Unanswered Question

Hi,

Just wanted to know the OSI layer in which RSVP and LDP works..? Network layer or transport layer..

RSVP RFC says, "RSVP operates on top of IPv4 or IPv6, occupying the place of a

transport protocol in the protocol stack. However, RSVP does not

transport application data but is rather an Internet control

protocol, like ICMP, IGMP, or routing protocols ".

Thanks

Hi,

Protocols such as OSPF and LDP are considered to operate at the network layer, not the transport layer since they do not provide transport services to any user data.

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
