All,
I ran the -show ip int brief- command on one of my routers and got this:
Interface Method
FastEthernet1/0 NVRAM
Serial1/0 TFTP
I cut the ouput short because I know what the other stuff means but what does Method mean and why is FastEthernet1/0 reading NVRAM for the Method and Serial1/0 reading TFTP?

Mario,
This refers to the method by which the interface was configured. In this case Fa1/0 was configured from NVRAM and se1/0 from a config downloaded from a TFTP server.
Hope this helps,

Hi,
The Method column refers to the source of the information that was used to create the interface.
The method field has the following possible values:
RARP or SLARPReverse Address Resolution Protocol (RARP) or SLARP request
BOOTPBootstrap protocol
TFTPConfiguration file obtained from Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server
manualManually changed by CLI command
NVRAMConfiguration file in nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM)
IPCPip address negotiated command
DHCPip address dhcp command
unassignedNo IP address
unsetUnset
otherUnknown
So, for example, NVRAM means that the interface was present in the startup-config when the router had booted and TFTP means that the interface was created as a result of doing something such as 'copy tftp running-config'.
Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
