Hello,
I have a question regarding PVST+ and
RAPID PVST+. I currently have PVST+ running on a CAT 4506 in an active network environment. If I try go from PVST+ to RAPID PVST+ using the
"set spantree mode rapid-pvst+" command could it affect currently connected users? Any pointers would be helpful.
Thanks

Andrew,
When moving from PVST+ to RAPID PVST+ the Spanning Tree will need to be recalculated as some of the ports will now be placed in the Alternate and Backup states. This means that some users could be affected by upto 30 seconds while the key ports are placed first in Blocking/Discarding and allowed to transition through to forwarding/Alternate/Discarding.
If in doubt with a live network use 'Change Control'
Regards,
Phil.

I am not familiar with change control. Do you have a possible hyperlink to more info, or could you elaborate?
