Getting event log error when phone reboots for station event alert and CTLfile.tlv not found.

Event Type: Error

Event Source: Cisco CallManager

Event Category: None

Event ID: 3

Date: 4/17/2006

Time: 7:40:17 AM

User: N/A

Computer: CALLMANAGER

Description:

Error: StationEventAlert - Station alert.

TCP ProcessID: 2.100.132.7322

Device Text: 6: Name=SEP001319ABCDEF Load= TERM70.7-0-2SR1S File Not Found

Param1: 0

Param2: 0

App ID: Cisco CallManager

Cluster ID: CALLMANAGER-Cluster

Node ID: x.x.x.x

Explanation: Station device sent an alert to Cisco CallManager.

Recommended Action: Ensure that the configuration for identified device is proper..

From phone status messages page:

File Not Found : CTLFile.tlv

No CTL installed

The CTL service is enabled/started on both CCM servers but no CTLfile.tlv exists in the TFTPPath folder.

CCM 4.1(3)sr2 and 7970 7.02SR1 phoneload.

How do I clean this error up? I have found some bug id on it but it is apparently fixed in a previous version of CCM and phoneload so the version were on should be ok. The bug id I found is CSCef91891.

I have this problem too.

Hi Eric,

Does this happens a single IP phone or all 7970´s?

If I remember correctly this is because CTL security is not configured on the CM but the phone still looks for the file. This error will not hurt anything and is expected if not configured, this is normal operation.

Or are you using Phone security?

Here is the information on this CTL Files:

Authentication, Integrity, and Encryption

Seeing it on 7940/7960 also sometimes and am wanting to stop the error from happening in the event log. The station alert is generic and file not found could mean something else may be going on with phone perhaps that may need correcting. I have seen the file not found reason when the phone can't download a locale file, etc. If the phone can't download a phoneload for some reason it gives the phoneload name after the file not found, but this just has file not found so got to go look at phone.
