Installing SDM on a 1711 Router

hello, I am having trouble installing any version of the SDM on a 1711 router running [C1700-ADVSECURITYK9-M Version 12.4(2)T]. I have tried several code versions with no success. The error message I receive when the installation fails is "This router model is not supported by SDM. Please enter the IP address of a router supported by SDM". All the documentation I find from Cisco says that this device supports SDM. Release Notes for SDM says the same thing.

Please help

Hi if you are trying to install SDM version 2.2 then it shoudl be OK .. it does support 1711 router

IPs supported for this router is Cisco 1711 12.2(15)ZL or later

I have tried 2.2a and I got the same message.

Hi,

When are you getting this message? Can you send the output of "show version" to help you better.

Thanks,

Ravi

I am getting the message after I enter the ip address and credentials in the SDM setup dialog.

Hi,

The "show version" put put is not showing it as 1711.

Cisco IPM (MPC862P) processor

It should be

Cisco 1711 (MPC862P) processor

Could this be a firmware issue. The router shell says 1711. I am not sure how I can get the sho ver to say 1711 or how to verify that it is not a 1711.

I have this same problem. The router says it is a 1711 on the cover but show version reports Cisco IPM not Cisco 1711. I can find no documentation on a model Cisco IPM.

I never got a resolution to my issue. I was using the router for some certification prep. After my tests were over I didn't pursue the issue anymore. Sorry, hopefully your router is under a smartnet and you can call Cisco on it.

From what I can tell 1711 and 1712 are the same, the only difference is in 2 modules. How does a router know what model it is supposed to be? If it has WIC-1B-S/T in slot 1, it it a 1712. If it has WIC-1AM in slot 1, it is a 1711. If it has nothing, it just sits there confused about its identity and you get the IPM. I dumped the strings in found in IOS and found the names based on modules loaded and IPM was listed with no modules loaded. This is only a problem when using Cisco management tools.
