questions about 3560's

Hi, I have a bunch of 3548's which are getting long in the tooth now, they don't support ssh, rspan etc etc. Anyway I want to upgrade them to 3560's.

Can I put 3560's into the network as replacements for the 3548's in a gigastack formation with our other 3550's ?

To clarify I have 3548's and 3550's in a gigastack formation. I want to replace the 3548's in the stacks with 3560's.

The Cisco Catalyst 3560 switches do not support the Cisco GigaStack Technology on the Catalyst 3550, 2950G, and 3500 XLs or the Cisco StackWise technology available on the Catalyst 3750. However, a cluster of any combination of these platforms can be managed via a single IP address using the Cisco Network Assistant (CAN) software.

Hi,

The 3560 switches do not support the gigastack feature. This is documented here:

Also on that same page regarding gigastack was the following:

"Q. Can the Cisco Catalyst 3560 Series switches support the Cisco GigaStack® or Cisco StackWise technology?

Okay thanks, sorry I should have found that doc myself!

Can I ask what the migration plan should be for me then ?

I have lots of closets with GX gigastacks of 3548's how do I migrate to the newer line of switches and keep my stack redundancy ?

Oh I guess it's called going to 3750's and stackwise.
