Hi all,
Sometimes I get the alert notification 'HighDiscardRate'. When I have a look at the details of the alert I see that, for example, InputPacketRate is 1,7865E7 and the discard packets is the 99,9986%. It's is absolutely imposible this amount of traffic running.
This alert appears in 2950 switches (Gi interfaces) and it's cleared inmediately.
Does anybody know why it happens?
Thanks a lot

I'd say some counter in snmp going to its max value and then rolling over.
Might be due to software version on the device.
Cheers,
Michel

If you poll ifInDiscards and ifOutDiscards on the device via snmp are you still seeing results like this? That would help determine if its an IOS or application issue.
