Very general question. A tunnel will classify itself as a low end vpn but if vpn is ipsec for you, then you dont need an ipsec session for running gre tunnels but your data will not be encrypted

No, you needn't have a VPN created for a Tunnel interface.

Infact when you have a tunnel with encryption and authentication its called VPN.

I hope that solves the concern.

HI

Sorry again. My question was VPN and Tunnel.

I configure VPN between two site.

again requirement tunnel create between two site.

so I create VPN then Tunnel interface

[GRE Tunneling].

BUT MY QUESTION WAS, I WANT CREATE JUST ONLY TUNNELING INTERFACE FOR TWO SITE ROUTING -DATA PROCESSING. NO IP SEC. THAT MEANS TUNNELING WITHOUT VPN.

I think you all r understand me about my confution.
