WIC - 2A/S query

Hi,

Simple setup

RF Radio tower -- Modem --v.35cable -- Wic 2A/S(1750 router)---Lan---Client

As per specifications WIC 2A/S doesnot support speeds beyond 128Kbps.

But in the above setup when the client connects to the Internet and checks the download speed using some internet speed tester (may be intel), he gets the result around 512 Kbps.

I tried the same thing with some other internet speed tester and almost got the same result.

The "sh int" showw 5 min load for tx and Rx as 70 Kbps and 10 Kbps.

Does any one has a logical explanation for such behaviour.

Thanks in advance!!!

Regards, Javed

i would believe the interface throughput statistics before a third party, internet based speed tester.

it is clear from the interface output that you got no higher than 70kbps in the 5 minute window.

you can max out this interface statistic by pushing a very large file and viewing the output every 30 seconds or so until the file is completed. with a big enough file, and no other restrictions, you should be able to get TX throughput towards 128kbps. (unless its a download then the RX will increase)
