Can VWIC-MFT-T1 supports for E1 handoff from local provider

Currently, we have a router with VWIC-MFT-T1. Can this interface supports E1 local loop handoff from local provider given that the speed we subscribed is sub-T1/T1 rate (1.5M or less) from the local provider?

Thanks.

This card supports upto two channel-groups. I don't remember whether it supports unframed operations or not, though you can check it without interruption of your current operations by simply going to controller configuration mode and typing 'channel-group 1 ?' if you see both 'timeslots' and 'unframed' then it can operate in unframed mode.

However, you mention that your provider gives you E1 circuit and not T1. Although E1 and T1 are quite similar, there's signalling difference between them so even if you'd ask for the same number of timeslots that your card could support, it won't work because signalling is different. You need either to ask your provider for T1 connection, or buy VWIC-MFT-E1 (or VWIC2-1MFT-G703).

Hi,

As far as i know, these cards do support both e1 and t1 framing.

You have to configure the card type in the global config using "card-type" to command to either use this interface in T1 or E1 mode.

Once you change the card type to e1, you can configure a logical interface and use the channels as you wish, if you are subscribing for fractional bandwidth with the provider.
