Common Services and Topology Services

Under CS, I created User Defined groups for every building. This is how I group my network devices in every bulding.

Everything works great except when I view the network map under network topolgy of particular building. Some devices do not show up.

I've ran Campus Data Collextion several times to no avail.

BTW: Thanks to jclarke for the very fast responses.

Do the missing devices show up in any of the other views in Topology Services? What Data Collection filters do you have that could prevent Campus from managing the devices in question? Are you integrated with ACS, and if so, are the devices in question clients of the same ACS server, and in an NDG to which you have access?

No they do not show up in any map under topology services.

No filter under data collection.

No ACS integration.

What types of devices do not show up in Topology Services? What is different about those devices vs. the ones that do show up (e.g. missing or different SNMP credentials, different network topology between devices and the CiscoWorks server, etc.).

If you still cannot isolate why the devices are not showing up in Campus Manager, you should enable core and corex Data Collection debugging. Then run a full Data Collection, then open a TAC Service Request and provide the ani.log as well as a sample device address/hostname and configuration which is missing.

The devices are 3750 stacks. Credential are correct. I do not see an obvious difference to tell you honestly. Unless I am doing something stupid that I will only realize later on.

By the way, I just enabled debugging with core and corex and am runnign DC right now. Thanks.

Ran a debug and found this in the output.

2006/09/26 09:48:25 Discovery ani DcrToCampusMap: Processing device: 499 IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

2006/09/26 09:48:25 Discovery ani DcrToCampusMap: License limit is -1

2006/09/26 09:48:25 Discovery ani DcrToCampusMap: Total no. of devices in WbuDeviceTable is: 1027

Under CS > Admin > Licensing my version of CM is Unlimited.

This is fine. -1 means an unlimited license.

My bad, the device actually shows up in Layer2 view.

How do I make it show up on CS/Customized Group?

You will need to make sure it matches your group's criteria. If you're using dynamic groups, and relying solely on rules, then the criteria values for this device may have changed, and thus it is no longer in the group you want it in. In that case, you can either add this device explicitly, change your ruleset, or aler the data on the device.

If you're certain that the device should be matched, but isn't, then you will need to enable OGS debugging. This is a more complex process than enabling Data Collection debugging, and thus you should contact TAC.
