GDM

I need to find a way to configure a GDM in a CCM and Unity environment so that when a call come into the GDM, it is sent to its own mailbox, not an existing subscribers mailbox. I also need it to turn on the MWI for phone I define. Currently the GDM is configured to send messages to a distribution group of subscribers. The user doesn?t like this because the message is now in several peoples mailbox.

Is there a way to do this??

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris -

Voicemail enable a single user. Create a security group with the users who need access to messages for that user. Give the security group Full Mailbox rights and Send As permissions. Add the user's inbox to each person's Outlook that needs access to voicemail messages for the user. Or if you are a VMO site, you can add the user's extension as a shared line to the other employees' phone and configure CallManager Lamp policy to light MWI for this extension.

Ginger,

I'm not an Exchange guru, so could you please explain this a little more to me?

Sorry..

Hi Chris -

Are you familiar with using Active Directory Users and Computers console from the Unity server? If this is not your forte, do you have someone in your AD team, Domain Admin, for example?

1. Create user account

2. Mail-enable the account

3. Import the account into Unity (Or you may have given Unity the permissions to create accounts in Active Directory - this is selected when running the permissions wizard)

4. Give the Unity subscriber the phone extension of the IP phone

5. In the ADUC console on the Unity server (Start - Programs - Administrative Tools - Microsoft Exchange - ADUC), select View - Advanced Features. This shows the Security tab. Note you also need to use the ADUC from the Exchange software installed on the Unity server to get the Exchange related extensions.

6. Create a new security group in AD (not distribution group). Add each user that needs to view/check voice messages as a member of this security group.

7. In the ADUC console, right-click the user you created in step 1 and select Properties

8. Select the Exchange Advanced Tab tab

9. Select Mailbox Rights

10. Add employee that needs access and check in the permissions box below (Delete mailbox storage and Full mailbox access)

11. Select the Security tab. Add the same employee you used in #10 and in the permissions box below, check Send As

12. Reply OK all the way out.

13. Go to an employee's Outlook (for Outlook XP) and select Tools - Email Accounts.

14. View or Change existing accounts

15. Select Change on the next screen

16. Click More Settings on the next screen

17. Click the Advanced Tab

18. Click Add and enter the alias of the account you created in #1.

19. Reply OK all the way out.

That should get you where you want. Have the employee in Outlook select Folder List for the email view and he or she will see the new inbox added. This can be monitored now for voice messages.

20. On the IP phone in CallManager, on the directory line config, change the Lamp policy to light MWI if not the first extension on the phone.

Hope this helps! Ginger
