Catalyst Express 500 and 802.1X failed authentication vlan

One of my customers wants to configure his access ports like this:

1. Enable 802.1X and use radius to assign vlan to known computers.

2. Computers failing authentication should get access to the guest vlan (default vlan).

Can I do one or both using the Catalyst Express 500 series?

Please provide documentation or otherwise explain how to give computers failing authentication access to the guest vlan.

Have you tried that yourself, or have you found a document stating that this is possible ?

You can do the both using 802.1x on CE500.

The configuration for 802.1X and Radius authentication server can be done with the help of Cisco Network Assistant (CNA). In the menu Network Security Settings you have to put the

security level on high. There is the ossibility to configure the IP address of the RADIUS

server and the RADIUS key.

In case you don?t have the CNA, you can download it for free from:

HTH, Please rate if it does.
