Hello,
I want to connect a second public IP-address to a fastethernet-port on my 1802. I already created a Vlan on port 6.
When I want to configure the interface, I can't give it an ip-address. The error is that the Ip-address can't exist on a 2L link.
Someone can give me a clue?
TIA

If you have created a VLAN on port 6 then I would assume that you need to configure a VLAN interface for that VLAN and the IP address would be configured on the VLAN interface.

That is where the problem arises.

Hello,
You need create a new VLAN for the second connection for example VLAN 10 and assign IP to this VLAN.
Add vlan firstly into the VLAN database and after this create the VLAN interface and assign IP to the VLAN and finally assign the VLAN to the mentioned Fe port. If your Fe port is a switch card in your router you can assign IP only this way to the interface, since the switch card provides L2 ports...
Or if this port is a router port you can use subinterfaces.
If you need any detailed config don't hesitate just drop a message...
bye

Hello FCS,
Can you give me a detailed config please.
I already did the first steps. Creating the Vlan went oke, but configuring the Vlan IF went nuts.
TIA,
