I am using this in version 8.6.1 and the Share Desktop Option is greyed out even though i have followed the steps for V 8.6.1

Do I need to apply and upload the COP file for this version?  This is the only step I havent done and it is stated as not needed for this version.

navdipatwal Wed, 05/23/2012 - 08:02 (reply to mamushta)

Im using version 8.6.2 as it happens.

So I have installed the COP file, documentation states that I must restart the Publisher server for this to take effect as well as all the other nodes.

Can you please re-confirm that all nodes have to be re-started (I have 8 nodes and it will take some time.

Hi there,

I have tested my XML file contents on a non-CSF device

Verified as working:

The disallowed file types work for CSF and Non CSF Device (Jabber Clients)

I didnt expect this to work but it has, thats great!

jasmsand Wed, 05/23/2012 - 08:11 (reply to navdipatwal)

Hey Navidp,

As for restarting the CCM Server, that is necessary as you are introducing a new configuration. So we must restart the Servers after the COP file install so that this new functionality will work successfully.

  1. Open the Cisco Unified OS Administration interface.
  2. Select Settings > Version.
  3. Select Restart.
  4. Repeat the preceding steps for each node in the cluster, starting with your presentation server.

Also, good to hear about Non-CSF device working for restricting file types. As mentioned earlier, CSF is only to allow soft phone feature for Cisco Jabber.

Jasmeet

Hi there,

Can you verify whether every node in the cluster needs rebooting?

To re-boot the PUB (to which the COP file was uploaded) is not bad and ok to manage

To reboot  2x TFTP servers and 5  x CallManagers needs to be a controlled change and will take some time.

jasmsand Wed, 05/23/2012 - 14:57 (reply to navdipatwal)

I have an update from our Dev Team:

The COP file adds more than just database entries, hence why it needs to be applied on each CUCM server in the cluster.  The basic DB replication is not enough and so we have to restart each of the Call Manager in the cluster

So you will ahve to submit a change request and follow through the procedure.

Jasmeet

I have uploaded the COP file to the publisher.

Just to re-confirm, Restart all Servers in Cluster starting with the publisher node?

solivarr Thu, 05/24/2012 - 05:55 (reply to navdipatwal)

Hi Navdip,

Please follow the below instructions once you have provisioned your CUCM 8.6.2 node/s with the bfc Device File (cmterm-bfcp-e.8-6-2.cop.sgn ‘) on each CUCM node then restarted each CUCM node, Created a New SIP Profile(cannot use default but recommend copying it to create new profile) and enabled the “Allow Presentation Sharing using BFCP” to the new SIP Profile then assign the new profile to the Client Service Framework Devices and enabled the “Allow Presentation Sharing using BFCP”  under the CSF devices as well followed by a device reset.

Note: Only CUCM 8.6.1 and 8.6.2 and later support this feature

Here’s what the screens will look like if you have properly configured CUCM for Desktop Sharing:

  1. Two users must login to Jabber for windows in Softphone Mode  (use my computer for calls device option)
  2. User 1 needs to call user 2 or vice versa, wait a few seconds once the call is active, then click on the drop down arrow on the active call window next the phone icon on the top right hand side of the phone control screen.
  3. Select Share Desktop as per below:

Screen Shot 2012-05-24 at 7.54.19 AM.png

4. Once you are sharing the desktop, you have the option to stop sharing if you are sharing your desktop and if the other user is seeing your desktop, they have the option to Take Over Control or go to Full Screen Menu by selecting either of the two options in the below screenshot:

Tommer Catlin Fri, 05/25/2012 - 08:43
  • •-      CUCM 8.6.2
  • •-      CUPS 8.6.x (newest version)
  • •-      Jabber 9.0.1 (latest, greatest)
  • •-      BFCP COP file installed on CUCM, rebooted
  • •-      BFCP enabled on the SIP profile for the Jabber CSF Devices in CUCM

When an audio call or video was established between (2) Jabber clients, the Desktop Share was still grayed out.    Everything else was working fine

What's missing here?

jasmsand Fri, 05/25/2012 - 09:01 (reply to Tommer Catlin)

Hey Tommer,

Make sure you are using Cisco Jabber in Soft Phone Mode as currently, as of this release, Cisco Jabber for Windows supports video desktop sharing in software phone mode only. Video desktop sharing is not available in desk phone mode.

It's a planned feature for next release.

Let me know if it still doesn't work in Soft Phone Mode.

Jas

Has anyone seen an issue where you can't share your desktop if you use click-to-call off the buddy list, but you can share desktops if you manually dial the number? We're experiencing this.

smolz Tue, 06/12/2012 - 12:49

Do you have to have an active call to be able to share desktop?

smolz Mon, 06/18/2012 - 08:17

Is there some documentation that actually has that requirement for an active call for desktop sharing to work?

sagaskar Thu, 06/28/2012 - 23:03 (reply to smolz)

Hi,

I was unable to find a direct doc for the same. However we do have the following in the admin guide -

"If users initiate desktop sharing sessions during  an audio or video conversation, they use the video desktop sharing  capabilities on Cisco Unified Communications Manager."

Ref: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_0_1/b_jabber_win_icg_chapter_010.html#task_002CD757B8EC4F5E85AA5222626C772B

You can also see one of the above posts with a screenshot to initiate desktop sharing form an active call.

Thanks!

michaelfine77 Thu, 07/05/2012 - 07:03

I can't get the desktop sharing to work, it is still grayed out. I get video sharing, just not desktop. I have followed all the above instructions:

  • uploaded the COP files
  • rebooted all CM servers
  • added BFCP to a new SIP profile and associated that SIP profile to the test users
  • reset the test users CSF and DN

CM version 8.6.2

CUPS version 8.6.3

Jabber for Windows version 9.0.1

Has anyone had success getting this to work?

Thanks

Ruud van Strijp Thu, 09/13/2012 - 01:48

I can start Desktop Sharing during a call, but during a regular IM session it's greyed out. How can I solve this?

michaelfine77 Thu, 09/13/2012 - 04:15

Ruud,

Currently you can only do desktop sharing when two Jabber clients are connected via a soft phone call. Desktop sharing does not work in deskphone mode when calling between Jabber clients, and you are not able to escalate from an IM to desktop share either. Those options are roadmapped for later releases.

Ruud van Strijp Thu, 09/13/2012 - 06:24 (reply to michaelfine77)

Michael,

So it's not enough to just be in softphone mode; you actually must have an active call going to be able to do desktop sharing? I wonder if endusers are going to understand/accept that...

fvazquez@abt-me... Mon, 10/15/2012 - 15:13

Please would you provide me a link in order to download the COP file. I followed the link than Sana Agaskar published but I cannot find it there.

You can find the COP file with the Jabber for Windows admin download.

Hi Sana,

i`m using CUCM 8.6.2.22900-9 and i`m not able to get it working. I don`t know i`m missing the checkbox "

Allow Presentation Sharing Using BFCP" on the CSF device.

I have tried to export all Phones and set the value from "f" to "t" (not Y). But the desktop sharing is greyed out.

The SIP Profile is assigned with the BFCP but on the device no chance. :-/

Any suggestions why the checkbox is missing under CSF device? Or how i get this working again?

Do i missing something in CUP configuration ? Version is 8.6.4.12900-2

regards

update: OK, i think i missed after upgrading CUCM to install the cop file again like said here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_1/JABW_BK_E4CC9599_00_environment-configuration-guide.pdf

You must install the COP file each time you upgrade Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6.2. For

example, if you configure video desktop sharing on Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6.2 and

then upgrade to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6.2.1, you must apply the COP file on Cisco

Unified Communications Manager 8.6.2.1 and then configure video desktop sharing.

Hi i only see the jabber msi in the jabber admin file , I dont see a ccm folder with cop files in. Please advise, obviously doing something wrong here.

gonzalezel Thu, 02/07/2013 - 08:54

So this COP file needs to be installed on all the callmanager servers in the cluster and then rebooted.  Is that correct?  Does this file need to be installed on the Presence (CUP) server?

fvazquez@abt-me... Thu, 02/07/2013 - 11:25 (reply to gonzalezel)

Yes, that's correct. You need to do it first on the CUCM publisher, reboot server, be shure there's no problem with installation and after that you need to do it on the CUCM subscriber(s). Just need to install file on the CUCM cluster, not on CUP.

tpejnovi Mon, 12/30/2013 - 05:12

Sana,

Small correction on procedure described in this document. When updating CSV file to allow desktop sharing, value should be changed to T and not Y:

- Set the value of the column to Y for all required devices.  <<<--------- Wrong,  it should be T

Tijana

Javastudy Tue, 12/31/2013 - 21:53

I would like correct above doc under " Configuring Desktop Sharing on CUCM 8.6.2 "

Enable video desktop sharing capability on the appropriate devices as follows –

For an individual device, select Allow Presentation Sharing Using BFCP and then select Save

For multiple devices, do the following –

- Select Bulk Administration > Phones > Export Phones > All Details.

- Select Bulk Administration > Upload/Download Files and download the exported CSV file.

- Open the CSV file with any editor.

- Insert a column named Allow presentation sharing using BFCP into the CSV file.

- Set the value of the column to Y for all required devices.  <<<-----the value should be "T " not " Y"

- Save the CSV file.

- Select the Override the existing configuration option.

- Import the CSV file.

gezamora Sun, 02/02/2014 - 10:37

Updating the post for 9.X versions of CM. As per the below statement and document, in CM 9.X and greater, the COP file is not longer needed, since BFCP presentation is enabled by default.

Cisco Jabber for Windows 9.2.x Server Setup Guide - Set Up On-Premises Deployments with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 9.x and Higher

On Cisco Unified                       Communications Manager version 9.0(1) and higher, BFCP presentation sharing is automatically enabled
