The database D:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA\priv1.edb has reached its maximum size of 16383 MB. If the database cannot be restarted, an offline defragmentation may be performed to reduce its size.

To perform the defragmentation, use the Eseutil utility. Eseutil is located in the Winnt\System32 folder in Exchange Server 5.5, and in the Exchsrvr/Bin folder in Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003. The utility can run on one database at a time from the command line.

Note: Defragmenting a database requires free disk space equal to 110 percent of the size of the database that you want to process.

For more information, refer to How to defragment with the Eseutil utility.

Verify that the information store is mounted after performing the defragmentation operation. Go to Exchange System Manager > Tools > Monitoring and Status. Verify that everything is in an available state.

Then expand Servers > Mailstore name > First storage group. If you find the information store is not mounted, right click and remount.
