The ASDM 5.x hangs when an attempt is made to access PIX Firewall 7.x through the ASDM

When the Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) hangs and does not load completely, perform these steps:

  1. Ensure that the compatible Java version is installed on the system.
  2. Make sure that the file name is properly specified in the configuration.

To log into the system, the default username is cisco and the password is cisco.

To create a new username, issue these commands:

  • username cisco
  • password cisco
  • privilege 15
