1. Scope
This information applies to the RFGW1 product running any version.
Applying RFGW1 licenses are below.
OLS_KEY | OLS_PARTNUMBER | OLS_DESCRIPTION |
DATA_ | 4021700 | Data |
POWERKEY_ | 4021701 | Powerkey |
DVB_SCRAMBLING_ | 4021702 | DVB/BISS-1 Scrambling |
8_CHANNELS_PER_PORT | 4031541 | 8 Channels Per Port |
2. Condition
- The RFGW1 must have an octal license(8_CHANNELS_PER_PORT) installed
3. Symptoms
The problem is characterized by the following behaviour:
Under the RFGW1 GUI alarm tab, we are seeing a “License Violation” active alarm as per the following screenshot:
This license violation alarm does not impact the performance of the unit, all services are running fine.
4. Cause
The RFGW-1 does support up to 8 QAMs per port (96 per chassis). An Octal license upgrade is required for that. However if you have an octal license on the RFGW1, you will then require 2 x DVB Scrambling (PowerKey or DATA) licenses for each chassis because those licenses only enable 4 QAMs per port.
5. Solution
There are 2 solutions for this:
5.1 Install an additional DVB Scrambling, PowerKey or DATA license
This is a solution if you want to use 96 QAM ports with an octal license and simultaneously want to use one of these functions -DVB Scrambling, PowerKey or DATA- with their respective license.
5.2 Remove the Octal license.
This could be a solution if you want to use one of these functions -DVB Scrambling, PowerKey or DATA- with a license but don't need an octal license (which means you will use 4 QAMs per port only).
