Configuration of Remote Management (RMON) History Control on ESW500 Series Switches

Objective

The History page displays detailed information about the source interface, sampling interval, owner, and current number of samples. The information shown is as per the RMON standards. A new history entry can be made or a previous entry can be configured.

The objective of this document is to describe how to add entries into the RMON History Control Page on ESW500 series devices.

Software Version

• v2.1.21 

RMON History Control

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Statistics > RMON (Remote Management) > History. The RMON History Control pageopens:

 

Add RMON Events 

Step 2. Click Add. The Add RMON History window appears:

 

The New History Entry field displays the table entry number. 

Step 3. To select a source interface click either the Port or EtherChannel radio button. Click Port if you want to add a particular gigabit Ethernet port and then choose the appropriate value from the drop-down list next to it. Click EtherChannel to take information from a specific EtherChannel and then choose the appropriate value from the drop-down list next to it. 

Step 4. Enter the RMON station or user that requested the RMON information in the Owner field. The field range is 0-20 characters. 

Step 5. Enter the number of samples in the Max No. of Samples to Keep field.

Step 6. Enter the time it takes in seconds to collect samples from the ports in the Sampling Interval field. 

Step 7. Click Apply.The entry is added to the RMON History Control Page, and the device is updated.

Step 8. (Optional) Click History Table to display the logged history on the History page. The History Table window appears:

Step 9. Click Interface Table to return back to the History page. 

Edit RMON Events

Step 1. To edit a history, check the check box that corresponds to the history that you wish to edit, and then, click Edit on the History page. The Edit RMON History window appears: 

Step 2. Choose the entry number from History Entry No. drop-down list. 

Step 3. To select a source interface click either the Port or EtherChannel radio button. Click Port if you want to add a particular gigabit Ethernet port and then choose the appropriate value from the drop-down list next to it. Click EtherChannel to take information from a specific EtherChannel and then choose the appropriate value from the drop-down list next to it. 

Step 4. Enter the RMON station or user that requested the RMON information in the Owner field. The field range is 0-20 characters. 

Step 5. Enter the number of samples in the Max No. of Samples to Keep field.

Step 6. Enter the time in seconds that samples were collected from the ports in the Sampling Interval field. 

Step 7. Click Apply

Step 8. (Optional) To delete a history, check the check box that corresponds to the history you want to delete on the History page and then click Delete.
