Objective

Bonjour is a service advertisement and discovery protocol. When Bonjour is enabled on the SA540 Security Appliance it only advertises the default services that are configured on the router. Bonjour allows network devices to find each other without the need of IP address to be entered manually or for a DNS server to be configured.

To configure Bonjour on this device the following must be done:

• Drop/Block Multicast packet setting must be disabled.

• Bonjour must be enabled.

• VLANs must be associated.

This article explains how to configure and enable Bonjour and then associate it with a VLAN on SA540 Security Appliances.

Applicable Device

• SA540 Security Appliance

Software Version

• 2.2.0.7

Bonjour Configuration

Step 2. Uncheck the Block Multicast Packets check box to unblock multicast packets.

Associate VLANs

Note: Before you can associate a service with VLANs, VLANs must be enabled on the device. For more information please refer to the article: Enable VLAN Support on SA540 Security Appliances. After the Bonjour service is enabled, available VLANs are selected in order to bind them with the default services.

Step 1. Log in to the Security Appliance Configuration Utility and choose Network Management > Bonjour > VLAN Association. The VLAN Association page opens:

Step 2. Choose a VLAN to associate from the Available VLANs drop-down list.

Note: Only hosts who belong to the associated VLANs are able to view the default services. By default, LAN/Default-VLAN is the broadcast domain.

Step 3. Click Apply to save your settings.
