Objective

This article explains how to configure Console Settings on Sx500 Series Stackable Switches. A console port is a service that provides serial ports which can be connected to the serial ports of other equipment to establish a connection between the devices. The console port is used to configure the device via applications such as Putty or HyperTerminal. Once the console port is configured the web configuration utility of the switch will not be able to be used until the setting is changed.

Applicable Devices

• Sx500 Series Stackable Switches

Software Version

• v1.3.0.62

Console Settings

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Administration > Console Settings. The Console Settings page opens:

Step 2. In the Console Port Baud Rate field, click the desired radio button to configure the baud rate of the console port. The Console port is used to configure the settings of Sx500 Series Stackable Switches. Baud rate is the number of bits transmitted across the medium per second.

•  Auto Detection  — Dynamically receives the speed from the port.

•  Static  — Manually choose the speed of the connection (in bits per second) from the drop-down list. It is set as 115200 Bits/sec by default.

Step 3. Click Apply to finish the device configuration.
