Port Forwarding sets up public services on your network, such as web servers, ftp servers, e-mail servers, or other specialized Internet applications. Specialized Internet applications are any applications that use Internet access to perform functions such as videoconferencing or online gaming. Some Internet applications may not require any forwarding. When users send this type of request to user's network via the Internet, the Router will forward those requests to the appropriate PC. Any PC whose port is being forwarded must have its DHCP client function disabled and must have a new static IP address assigned to it because its IP address may change when using the DHCP function.

This article explains how to configure the Port forwarding.

Steps of Procedure

Step 1. Using the Linksys Phone Adapter Configuration utility of SPA2102 and SPA3102 interface, click Application.

Step 2. In the WAN Setup page, click WAN Setup.

Step 3. In the Application page, Choose yes from the drop down menu in the Enable column to enable the rule.

Step 4. Enter the service name under the Service Name column.

Step 5. Enter the starting port and ending port under the Starting port and Ending port columns respectively.

Step 6. Choose the required transport protocol from the drop down menu of Protocol column.

Step 7. Enter the local IP address of the server under the Server IP Address.

Step 8. Click Submit All Changes to save.
