Objectives

A wireless repeater takes an existing signal from a wireless router or access point and rebroadcasts it to create a second network. The Access Point (AP) Mode page is used to configure the access point operation with the Wireless Distribution System (WDS). On the AP Mode page, you can turn the access point into a wireless repeater.

The objective of this document is to show you how to enable Wireless Repeater mode for the WAP200 and WAP200E Wireless-G Access Points.

Applicable Devices

• WAP200E Wireless-G Access Point.
• WAP200 Wireless-G Access Point

Configuration of Wireless Repeater Mode

Step 1: Access the Access Point via the web-based utility and then choose AP Mode > AP Mode. The AP Mode page opens.

Step 2: Click the Wireless Repeater radio button.

Step 3: Enter the MAC address of the access point whose signal must be repeated in the MAC field.

Step 4: To select a remote Access Point from the wireless network, click the Site Survey button in the Remote Access Point's MAC Address field.

• When the Site Survey button is clicked, the various wireless networks that the access point is connected to are displayed. This helps you easily choose the desired access point from any remote wireless network and allow you to repeat the corresponding signals.

Step 5: Click Save to save the settings or Cancel to cancel the configuration.
