Q: When is the End of Sale date for ProtectLink licenses?

A: Cisco will stop selling ProtectLink on July 31, 2013. (Termination Date) Some Cisco resellers may have licenses in stock and continue to sell beyond the July 31, 2013 date, though.

Q: For existing subscribers, when will the service end?

A: The service will turn-off on July 31, 2014. (End-of-Support Date)

Q: How do I find my expiration date?

A: From the router UI, under the ProtectLink tab, click on the link "Register ProtectLink…". That will take you to the Trend Micro licensing server.  Click on the "Click Here" link to register a new router.  Once you login you will see all of your licenses and expiration dates.

Q: I recently purchased a 3-year license.  My service period should end after July 31 2014.  What are my options?

A:  For ProtectLink customers that have purchased maintenance and support for ProtectLink on or before the Termination Date, but whose purchased contract for such extends past the End-of-Support Date, Trend Micro will offer each such customer a free term license (inclusive of maintenance) for Worry-Free (Service or On-Premise) for a term that will end on the earlier of the following to occur: (1) July 31, 2016; or (2) completion of maintenance and support term for ProtectLink purchased by the customer on or before the Termination Date.   After the expiration of the above term, each such customer will have the right, but not the obligation, to renew the term of Worry-Free with Trend Micro at the then-prevailing license fees.

Cisco will offer a 1-year license for Trend Micro's Worry Free Business Security client or Hosted Email Security.  Validation of the activation code's expiration date will be required.  You can call our support center for more information. https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/netpro/small-business/sbcountrysupport

Validation of the activation code's expiration date will be required.  You can call our support center starting October 1, 2013 for more information.

Q: What is an Activation Code?

A: The activation code is provided to you after you registered the product.  You should have received an email from Trend Micro with the Acitivation Code.  If you misplaced that email or did not receive it, follow the steps for finding the expiration date to find your Activation Code.  (Note: The activation code is in the following format:  xx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx.)

Q: Which Cisco products does this affect?

A: This affects the RV042, RV082, RV016, RV220W, RVS4000, WRVS4400N, SA520, SA520W, and the SA540.

Q: Does Cisco plan to replace the ProtectLink functionality in RV Series Routers?

A: We are looking to develop a new system for URL filtering for future RV routers.  However, for the RV042, RV082, RV016, RV220W, RVS4000, WRVS4400N, SA520, SA520W, and the SA540, there will be no replacement for the ProtectLink service.

Q: Are there other Cisco platforms that provide web filtering not based on ProtectLink?

A: There are several platforms.  The products three best suited for small and medium business are:

ISA500 Integrated Security Appliance - http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/solutions/small_business/products/security/ISA500/index.html

ISR 800 Series Routers - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps380/index.html  More information also at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/web_security/ISR_SS/ISR_ScanSafe_SolutionGuide.pdf

The filled form should be sent to CWS Sales Admin via the ipss-salesoperations alias (ipss-salesoperations@cisco.com) and they will then provision the account within a few days and send all the relevant details to the customer. A Technical Account Manager (TAM) will usually also be assigned to assist the customer with the deployment and get them up and running.
NOTE: A security PSS/CSE will need to be contacted for the PO.
