Core issue
PIX software was upgraded using the copy tftp flash command, but a reload was not performed after upgrade.
Resolution
After installing a new PIX software version to Flash using the copy tftp flash command, the PIX must be reloaded before the new image takes effect. Upon bootup, the PIX copies the image from Flash to RAM, and the image is then run from RAM. When the show version command is executed, the PIX displays the current running version from RAM, not the version in Flash.
To see the current software version, issue the reload command. Once the PIX is reloaded, the newly installed version is copied into RAM and the show version output displays the newly installed version.
