In order to run Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) on the clients through wireless zero config, install a hotfix for Microsoft Windows, and all the client cards need to have the latest driver versions. You can download the driver from Cisco Downloads.

These steps also need to be done as part of the configuration:

  1. Disable CCKM, as cckm can fail if the AES is enable.
  2. Add open-authentication with EAP.

Note: Cisco ACU does not support WPA-PSK. The Wireless Zero Configuration utility from Windows supports WPA-PSK for most wireless cards.

Note: Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g client adapters purchased today can run AES and support WPA2. Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g client adapters purchased in early 2005 are AES-ready and need only a software upgrade to run AES and support WPA2.

Note: Cisco Aironet 350 Series products does not support WPA2 because their radios lack AES support. It is necessary to upgrade to Cisco Aironet Series access points and client devices that support AES if WPA2 is used.

Note: Some third party product also supports WPA2 with windows zero config Intel Pro-set 2915abg.

These wireless client adapters supports WPA:

  • Cisco Aironet 350 Series

  • 5 GHz 54 Mbps (CB20A) Series

  • 802.11a/b/g PCI Wireless LAN client adapters

  • 802.11a/b/g CardBus Wireless LAN client adapters

For Windows XP and Windows 2000, support is provided with Cisco Client Adapter installation Wizard 1.3 or later.

For Windows CE, support is provided with Cisco Aironet Client Utilities 2.50 and Driver 2.50 or later for Cisco Aironet 350 Series client adapters. Software can be downloaded at the Cisco Downloads.
