The PDM 2.1 does not recognize all the interfaces under the failover configuration in the PIX 500 Series Firewall

Core issue

This condition occurs when a user:

1. Loads the PIX Device Manager (PDM) image 3.0.0.134
   
   
2. Has a gigabit interface card
   
   
3. Configures the IP address for the interface and names it outside
   
   
4. Connects to the PIX Firewall through the PDM
   
   
5. Goes to System Properties under the Failover tab
   
   
6. Then sees that the outside interface is not displayed in the failover  panel.

This issue occurs due to the presence of Cisco bug ID CSCdz77856.

Resolution

As a workaround, perform either of these steps:

• Configure the failover interfaces that do not appear on the PDM through the PIX Command Line Interface (CLI).
  
  
• Upgrade the PDM to version 3.0(0.139) or later.
