Core Issue

On Cisco Unity 4.0(3), subscribers with large Microsoft Exchange inboxes, and lots of messages, experience greater delays than users with fewer messages. For larger mailboxes, it can take 30 to 90 seconds to retrieve voicemail over the Telephony User Interface (TUI).

This is most commonly experienced in Unified Messaging environments. The partner server, or mailstore, could be Microsoft Exchange 5.5, 2000 or 2003.

This issue is documented in Cisco bug ID CSCdy36517.

Prior to Cisco Unity version 4.0(4), the indexing method used in order to determine the number of voicemail/email/fax messages sometimes expired in the Exchange database. This required the index to be rebuilt.

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, reduce the number of messages in the mailbox. Alternatively, upgrade the Cisco Unity system to version 4.0(4) by visiting: Cisco Unity 4.0 Software
