Core issue
The inline power to a Powered Device (PD) that operates in Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) mode is not provided by these Catalyst switches:
- WS-C3560G-24PS
- WS-C3560G-48PS
- WS-C3750G-24PS
- WS-C3750G-48PS
The show power inline command shows power granted and the show interfaces status command shows link not connected.
This problem can occur after the PD is disconnected and reconnected to the same port on the switch, as documented in Cisco bug ID CSCse97449.
This problem is also seen when a non-powered device was previously connected to the port, as documented in Cisco bug ID CSCsc10999.
Resolution
In order to workaround this problem, issue the shutdown command sequence and then the no shutdown command on the interface.
This issue is fixed in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(35)SE1, which can be downloaded from Cisco Downloads.
