Hi

We’re running in a problem with 2  new Catalyst 4507-E switches  equiped with WS-X4648-RJ45V-E linecards being taken into use. POE is not used. Some of the connected  equipment is 70 to 80 meter away from the switch. The used CAT6 cabling is verified to be  ok.  Connection speed is Gigabit/s. The connected devices show continous RX errors  and the switch debug info shows the links dropping away every now and then.

Replacing the switch with a Catalyst  3750-E or a low cost 8 port SLM2008 solves the issues.

Current conclusion points into the direction that the WS-X4648-RJ45V-E linecard is not able to drive CAT6 cables of this length but this is hardly believeable. So I am looking for other possible causes and how to remedy the situation. All help more than appreciated.
