Introduction
This is a short guide on how to configure and verify QOS Weighted Fair Queuing on the Nexus 1000V.
This feature will only work with ESX 4.1 as we make use of Network I/O Control that was introduced by VMware in ESX 4.1
This feature allows you to create a QOS policy based off common VMware ESX traffic. From that policy you can then allocate a bandwidth percentage to that traffic class. It's very easy to setup and apply.
Requirements and Assumptions
- Installed VMware VC 4.1
- Installed Cisco Nexus 1000V 1.4 on an ESX VM in HA mode
- At least 1ESX/ESXi4.1 box with VEM module already loaded
- Created a Nexus 1000V Distributed Virtual Switch(DVS) under vCenter
- Added the ESX boxes to the Nexus 1000V DVS
