I tried the above configuration and it did not work so I tried other configurations based on the settings in my CBeyond (former Aretta account) as follows and it successfully registered and passed calls back and forth even though I have dynamic public IP. Perhaps the difference between this setup and the one above is that SIP CBeyond my account was originally setup when CBeyond was Aretta Communications and the URL has always been and still remains sip.aretta.net which may be why this worked for me but I don't know if the above settings is what newer Cbeyond customers who signed up directly with CBeyond after they acquired Aretta Communications. Pick what works in your case, I guess.;

  • Provider: Generic SIP Provider

  • Description: Name the trunk for your own reference
  • Proxy: sip.aretta.net
  • Registration: Checked (Client-server SIP trunk, registration required)
  • Outbound Proxy: sip.aretta.net
  • Call Capacity: <As indicated by CBeyond in your contract>
  • Prefix # w/"+1" : Check (uses US international numbering plan)
  • Company Name: <Your company name> (this will appear as the Display Name field on SIP messaging)
  • Account ID: <The username provided to you by CBeyond>
  • SIP domain name: <Your company local domain name> Optional

  • Password: <Password or Secret as indicated by the CBeyond>
