Core issue
This issue occurs due to the presence of Cisco bug ID CSCsc48463.
In order for this issue to happen, the Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) 5510 must be part of a failover set. The active ASA must terminate VPN connections. The standby ASA 5510 can crash when VPN sessions are replicated to the standby ASA.
Resolution
In order to resolve this issue, perform one of these steps:
- Remove the standby ASA 5510 from the failover set.
- Download and upgrade the software used to any one of these versions:
- 7.1(1)
- 7.0(5)
- 7.2(0.10)
- 7.3(0.3)
- 7.3(0.4)
- 7.1
