CUCM 6.1.3 Audio Tuning (Gain Control, Sidetone etc)

Hi,

I upgraded one of our customers to UCM6.1.3 last night, and now have a small number of users that are complaining that they are hearing echo in their headsets. I suspect that this has been caused since the handset firmware was also upgraded and the gain control & side tone settings have been defaulted.

Please can someone advise as to where I would locate the parameters that control the headset transmit gain/attenuation, and the side tone level? I've had a look through the manuals and I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Regards,

-Gordon.

Hi Gordon, unfortunalty thats in the DSP|internal components code and no configurable, talking with some Dev for IP phone team in an previous case they are evaulating some user configurable options, my best advice will be upgrade to latest fw if you are using the latest one, please open a TAC case with us since we have been working in similar problems for 3rd generation phones.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the message. Since my original post, I have logged a TAC case (611272849). The TAC engineer has advised that there was a bug CSCsu61412 which advises on this issue.

The recommended action was to upgrade the handset firmware to 8-4-4, which I have downloaded and installed on the customer CUCM this morning. I'm currently awaiting feedback from the customer once they've reset a couple of phones to see if it's fixed the issue.

Thanks again,

-Gordon.

great, hopefully fixes the problems, thanks for the feedback

Hi,

Just a quick note to confirm that I've had feedback from the customer today, and the firmware upgrade to 8-4-4 has resolved the issue!

Thanks again,

-Gordon.

We recently had the same problem after we upgraded our system from CCM 4.x to 6.1.3. Figuring that new firmware would fix it we went ahead with the v9.0SR1 firmware. No Success.

However, downgrading back to the above mentioned v8.4.4 firmware resolved the problem quickly and easily.

After doing some more research I personally feel that it is a bug with how the phone handles the call. (We were only experienecing this internally, ip phone to ip phone.) I think that the phone firmware wants to use G.722 codec instead of the default G.711 which creates the higher audio clarity and more sensitive mic that would pick up ruffling paper, nearby conversations, etc... Unfortunatly i can't find a way to change that setting.
