I'm testing an SPA112 with firmware version "1.2.0 (042) Jul 5 2012" to see if some of the previous DTMF issues have been resolved.
We have analog devices sitting behind the ATA that require DTMF tones to be played for at least 1 second to be acknowledged, e.g. hold * for 1-3 seconds.
When using AVT
When using In Band with G711a
When using INFO
I've tried changing the DTMF Playback Length to be 1.5 seconds so the tones are played for at least that length of time. However, changing that setting doesn't seem to do anything (I tried a number of different lengths).
What do I need to change so that incoming DTMF tones are played for the duration that the key is held down?

I've just upgraded to the latest official version (1.2.1 (004) Jul 27 2012) and things have changed but don't appear to be much better.
When using AVT
When using In Band
When using INFO
And it still doesn't seem to matter what the DTMF Playback Length is set to. The duration of the tones played doesn't seem to change.
So now In Band is the most stable mode to use, but still doesn't help our users.

Did you find any solution to this DTMF issue? I am having the same problem with SPA122, on the latest firmware release. I am using inband but not with the results I want.

I'm still using firmware version "1.2.1 (004) Jul 27 2012". I am using InBand for DTMF with the G711a codec and that seems to be working OK. Both incoming (I think via AVT) and outgoing tones are played for as long as the line generates the tone.
I think some of the problems I was seeing (mainly with short incoming tones) were related to the SIP provider. They changed something and the short incoming tone problem went away.
Check that the device you are using generates outgoing tones for as long as they are heard in the earpiece. The iPhone generates tones of a fixed length and stacks them, e.g. if you press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 very quickly it will generate a sequence of tones that lasts much longer than what is heard in the earpiece. Android phones do something similar. The only phone I had that generated tones for the duration of the keypress was a DECT cordless phone and older corded phone.
I don't think AVT works correctly for outgoing tones as I would prefer to be using that.
With the iPhone limitation there doesn't seem to be anyway to get it to work with our IVR device at home which relies on the * key being held for more than a second.

Do you have a special call processor like CME or CUCM? or are you setting up the SPA112 to the Telco?

I'm not sure I understand the question. The SPA112 is configured by me to connect to the SIP provider. The SPA112 is connected to the analog phone line distribution block, which uses a star network to the various phones / devices. The REN of the SPA is sufficient to ring all the phones / devices connected to the analog phone jacks.

So you conecting the SPA112 directly to the Telco, in this case do you ask the Telco (SIP Provider) for the type of DTMF that support?

Yes I followed the instructions provided by the SIP provider. They support AVT (like most). InBand goes through the audio channel so not part of the SIP protocol.

1.2.1 (004) is the latest firmware.
