Hi,

I'm not familiar with this platform, but on Catalyst switches you need to configure media-type {rj45|sfp} on dual-purpose ports before you can configure media-specific settings like duplex mode.

Configuration Guide: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/metro/me3400/software/release/12.2_50_se/command/reference/cli1.html#wp5481854

Please keep in mind that there will be short outages when you change the media-type and the duplex-mode, because the port has to re-initialize.

You need to set the media-type to RJ45 under the interface. Once done you then have the option of speed and duplex settings.

Setting media-type to auto-select or sfp result in not being able to manually apply speed and duplex settings.

If the interface speed is set to 1000 Mbps, it in theory should not be operating as half-duplex, ergo, no duplex option will be available to configure.

There are a few software defects some cosmetic, some operational, that change the interface duplex to half on SFP/1G ports.

You can confirm the duplex operational/hardware programming of a port with this command:

- show platform pm port-info g0/x

For the most part, changing the media-type and setting it back, and bouncing the interface status (shut /noshut) will correct any misprogramming causing this issue.

Another workaround is to disable autonegotiation with the command: speed nonegotiate, set the speed manually with: speed 10/100/100 and set the duplex with: duplex full
