Try the following:

1.Install the RootPatch
2.Navigate to /opt/CSCOacs/view/conf
3.Issue the command vi acsview.info and press 'i' to enter the INSERT mode.
4.Remove the lines DynamicPassword and LiferayDynamicPassword
5. Save the file by pressing 'ESC' followed by typing ':wq' and hitting 'Enter'
6.Restart the services.

I have this same problem.  Is there a way to view the directory size without the RootPatch?  This is my backup server and it is about 200 miles away from me...so console port access is a bit hard to get.

Is there a way to clear out that directory without needing console port access?

You may try this:

enter the acs-config command in EXEC mode.

Enter ACS GUI Super Admin username and password.

acsview show-dbsize

(Displays the physical and actual size of the ACS view database and the transaction log files)

It won't let me enter the ACS config mode either.

I have rebooted the box to no avail and did a restore with no change.

What error do you see on executing "acs-config" ?

The ACS apparently has some sort of cleanup mode, because today everything works.  I went to log into acs-config mode to get you the exact error and it logged me in.  I tried the web page and it works as well.

However, when I went to check the DB side, I get this error:

MonitoringandReporting Services are not running ,Please restart the service before using this CLI

Here is my show app status acs results:

ACS role: PRIMARY

Process 'database'                  running
Process 'management'                running
Process 'runtime'                   running
Process 'adclient'                  running
Process 'ntpd'                      running
Process 'view-database'             not monitored
Process 'view-jobmanager'           not monitored
Process 'view-alertmanager'         not monitored
Process 'view-collector'            running
Process 'view-logprocessor'         not monitored

Nothing I can do will make them run, I did reboots, starts, etc.  In the end it probably will not matter, we emergency purchased new ACS servers to install.  I will install one local to me, make it a secondary, get the DB onto it, promote it to primary, and everything should work properly.  I will then replace the remove one later this week with a brand new server as well.

I am just happy to see Cisco's ACS is at least partially self healing!

Hello Team,

We migrated our secondary ACS 5.8 VM from one server to another and now the below problem is occuring.

After migration the VM the secondary was visible in the primary node but the SYNC was not sowrking tried deregister and delete, then the device did not deregister itself. Tried deregister from primary also but no luck.

ACS role: PRIMARY

Process 'database'                  running
Process 'management'                Changed
Process 'runtime'                   running
Process 'adclient'                  running
Process 'ntpd'                      running
Process 'view-database'             running
Process 'view-jobmanager'           Changed
Process 'view-alertmanager'         Changed
Process 'view-collector'            running
Process 'view-logprocessor'         Changed

The GUI is not responding and the services are going between changed to running.

The Process 'management' is switching between initializing Restarting & Changed.

Please help on this issue.

Regards,

Anand

I just wanted to post here to help anyone else in the future.  I had an issue where the ACS management process showed HTTP nonresponsive.  I rebooted the ACS and it did not resolve the issue.  However, when I stopped and restarted the application it worked.

Process 'management'                running (HTTP is nonresponsive)

# application stop acs

Stopping ACS.
Stopping Management and View...............................................................
Stopping Runtime.....
Stopping Database......
Stopping Ntpd...
Cleanup...

# application start acs

Process 'management'                running

Thanks,

Alex

What was the resolution to your problem?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex,

After the ACS VM was migrated to another ESX we configured the new VM with same IP address and same MAC address. After this we uploaded the same old license file to the migrated ACS and it was running fine.

As it was  the stand by ACS for me i re-registered it with my primary ACS.

Hi all,

I had this problem many times, sometimes when the database (Loggin Database) is too big it takes time for the http process to be active.

Sometimes you need to give it a few hours (Could be even 1 day) then you can check again in most cases after few hours it will work.

If your problem is the same problem as I had then everything should work exept the GUI interface, that means that the authentication process should work fine but the GUI interface cannot be reached.

Hope that was helpful.
