ACS - Monitor Services

Hi

Currently using Windows ACS 4.0 and 1113 Ver4.2 with SNMP patch to allow ping.

We want to monitor the services using Solarwinds APM, you attach the template to the above, you can see details from SNMP from the server ect and see the Services.  But it seems to require a user name and password to Monitor the Serivces, which isnt a Windows username and password.  I've tried adding the administrators username and password of the ACS but this doesn't allow to monitor the services.

Is there a certain procedure to monitor the Services of the ACS with a 3rd party product such as Solarwinds?

Regards

Craig

Re: ACS - Monitor Services

The ACS SE 1113 is a locked up Server, in order to tell how the services are doing with a third party utility, we would most likely need to install some type of agent to look/monitor/or even send SNMP traps for the specific ACS Services (which are installed onto the Operating System).

ACS already does this by itself, if you go to System Configuration > ACS Service Management > you could configure ACS to email you in the event of a service failure. You could also send the report of those alerts to a Syslog Server: System Configuration > Logging > Edit the appropiate Report.

Just realized that there is also a SNMP Agent (System Configuration->Appliance Configuration->SNMP Agent), this could  provide some more information:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_for_windows/4.2/user/guide/SCBasic.html#wp288047

Keep in mind:

CSCsj18497    ACS Appliance documentation does not list supported SNMP MIBs

Hope this helps,
