acs v4.0 and win 2003 installation issue

I am installing ACS V4.0 on WIN 2003 server. All the browser requirements ( IE V6.0, SP1) is present.

But it is not displaying the initial configuration screen after installation.

No errors etc.

Then we try to change the various browser settings without any success.

The web page can be display if I access the server from a different machine, but there is no admin users set yet, I cannot access the system in that way too.

Any ideas how to correct the issue ?

Hi,

Before you can access your ACS remotely, you need to setup admin account for that. Go to the navigation bar, and click on the "Administration Control" menu. Add the remote admin account here. Chck the following guide to create the account:

Accessing ACS from its own server does not require username/password. When you click on the ACS menu, by right you should be able to do so. But on the above link, there is a note on the ACS running on Windows 2003 server that says "When ACS is running on Windows 2003, the ACS administrator account that runs the ACS services must have a Domain Administrator account to authenticate against Windows 2003.."

Thanks for the answer.

But, my problem is, I cannot access the system (via browser) from the server machine itself.

It only shows a blank web page.

Is there anything specially to be set in the WIN 2003 OS level ?

BTW, have you checked that all ACS-related services, especially the webserver is running?

Did you installed java? www.sun.com

You have to enable Java

You have to enable JavaScript

You have to disable HTTP Proxy.

Try it again. I think now it should work.

Try to use http://localhost:2002 instead off http://127.0.0.1:2002 when you access ACS

You have only to do that (http://loacalhost:2002)when you didn't allow the website http://127.0.0.1:2002 in the "Local Sites" or in the "Trusted Sites" Internet explorer/Tools/Security.

You need Java installed on the server. Still on the server, you browse 127.0.0.1:2002 and you'll be redirected to the initial configuration screen to setup your admins.

Thanking you for anwering my query.

I think that you mean by Java is JRE. But in the ACS documentation I cannot see any referance to installall JRE before start installation.

Anyway If it is required what is the compatible JRE version according to your experience ?

I just had this exact same problem; I finished the install of 4.0 on a Windows 2003 SP1 server and nothing showed up on the local web page. I added the local host site (127.0.0.1) to the trusted sites list in IE, set the security to low, and even removed the IE Enhanced Security Module but nothing worked. Finally, I installed the latest JRE build from Sun (5.0, update 6) and everything worked just fine after that point. This was no where in the setup documentation, and was rather frustrating.

Another option is install Firefox locally. This works without any issues.

Ok, first off you didnt need java just to access the ACS front page with versions prior to 4.0

4.0 had some "cosmetics" done to it and its possible there is now javascript on every page :(

I found somewhere a site the other week that had MSFTs old JRE for download - so its still kicking around. Or just go get Suns.

The ACS "default" is to allow anonymous local but require UN+PW for remote login - so Im not sure how you got it work the other way around!
