ACS v5 Distributed Deployment

We support multiple clusters of ACS v5 servers and was trying to verify whether ports needed to be opened between those clusters.  With our deployment, I am certain the answer is no but wanted to verify the RMI ports 2020 and 2030.  Could someone explain what those ports are used for and what scenario they would be used in?
