Assigning dynamically VLANs to Switch

Hi,

I have a Cisco 2950 Switch. On the Switch I create three VLANs and the ports should be configured dynamically. So if a devive (not a User !!)e.g. an Access Point is connected, the Switch should verify the MAC address of the AP, and put the connected port in a special VLAN.

I found documents to VMPS Server, but I only have Cat2950 Switches and Cisco3745.

In addition I have a Cisco Secure ACS, but I can´t find a solution with it.

So any solutions are usefull. Thanks!

Re: Assigning dynamically VLANs to Switch

I am not an expert (yet) on the subject, but I'm planning on doing what you are doing, and from the reading I've been doing, Cisco's solution is to use 802.1x. This allows for both username and MAC-address based vlan assignment, using a RADIUS server.

There's a lot of documentation on Cisco's site, but here's one to get you started. This doc is for the 6509, but I know that the 2950 and 3745's support this too.

Here's the link:
