Cisco Access Registrar (CAR) is a Unix-based Radius server. As per my understanding CAR is targeted at Service Providers who need high performance and the flexibility of customized scripts.
You can authenticate users to a local database, or proxy to a third party Radius server. CAR also supports LDAP and ODBC user databases.

Well, i am familiar with service provider networks that use ACS...and it is also flexible in terms of databases and has pretty good performance. I am not sure about the scripts in ACS though. I think there must be some other differences...
