Cisco ACS 5.3 restore

Hi

I'm in the process of moving our log collector from our primary ACS to a new secondary ACS. I have changed the log collector and that worked ok. I'm now trying to do a restore of the incremental backup taken this morning but nothing seems to be happening. When I check application status I see this

BRSPCR-ACS-APP2-LOG/admin# show app st acs

ACS role: SECONDARY

Process 'database'                  running

Process 'management'                not monitored

Process 'runtime'                   running

Process 'adclient'                  running

Process 'ntpd'                      running

Process 'view-database'             running

Process 'view-jobmanager'           not monitored

Process 'view-alertmanager'         not monitored

Process 'view-collector'            running

Process 'view-logprocessor'         not monitored

Is this normal when doing a restore??

I can see a backup/restore might be in process

BRSPCR-ACS-APP2-LOG/admin# show restore history

Thu Oct 24 12:39:20 BST 2013:CARS_BACKUP_IN_PROGRESS : -411 : A backup or restore is already in progress

I've had wireshark running on our server where the backup files are located so I could check whether ACS was connecting. I could see it connect using FTP and could see data transfer taking place so am hoping it has downloaed the backup from our server.

The full backup file size is just over 5G

The incremental file sise is 25MB

How long should I espect a restore to take place?

Is there any way of seeing if ACS is actually doing the restore?

THis is our version

BRSPCR-ACS-APP2-LOG/admin# show app ver acs

Hi

Sorry I missed your reply. Unfortunatly reading the manual hasn't helped me. I have raised a call with our support about this and am waiting to get a response.

Hi

TAC got back to me and its because I dont have enough disk space to unpack the backup file. I need to configure a NFS staging URL.

backup-staging-url nfs://hostname.domainname:/nfs/cisco

Jay

latest update - I managed to get the log restore done today, with assistance from TAC. They used the manual method within the Linux console.

These were the steps taken

-              stopped ACS view service on Primary ACS

-              compressed acsview51.db and acsview.log (total size around 105 GB) to once file with the size of 7,3 GB

-              started ACS View services on Primary

-              copied ACS View DB from Primary to Secondary using SFTP

-              uncompressed copied archive on Secondary and replaced existing ACS View with copied one

-              freed up some disk space on Secondary ACS (from 91% to 34% of /opt partition)

Thanks Jay
